Cosmic Dream: Carl Sagan

Cosmic Dream: Carl Sagan
Carl Sagan is the American astronomer, planetary scientist, cosmologist, astrophysicist, astrobiologist, author, and science communicator. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 9, 1934, and died in Seattle, Washington, on December 20, 1996. He played a leading role in the American space program from its very beginning and was a consultant and adviser to NASA. He also popularized science through his books and TV series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage. He was passionate about the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) and the exploration of the solar system.

I used planets, stars, and spacecraft as the mosaic tiles to create his portrait because they represent his scientific interests and achievements. He was involved in many planetary missions, such as Viking, Voyager, and Galileo. He also designed the messages from Earth that were attached to the Pioneer and Voyager probes that were launched out of the solar system. I chose a black background for the portrait to contrast with the colorful mosaic tiles and to create a sense of depth and space. I named this portrait Cosmic Dream because that is what Sagan had: a dream of understanding the cosmos and communicating its wonders to humanity.

Thanks to Carl Sagan for making me interested in space and science!
